This is a sublist of the Association of University Language Centres and focuses on issues of teaching and advising in a  variety of learning environments (self-access, virtual or  classroom).

Roles, expectations, modes of delivery, tools,  approaches are amongst the themes discussed in this sub-list

Other meetings will generally be held as parallel sessions during general AULC meetings

 

Aims

 

Bullet to encourage and promote good practice in language  teaching, advising and learning

 

Bullet to inform and apply research into teaching,advising and
learning

 

Bullet

to share and disseminate information about events which
are relevant to the context within which language centres
operate


Bullet keep an up-to-date list of all full-time and part-time staff
who teach or advise in language centres

 

These aims will be achieved through:

 

Bullet discussion and exploration of effective ways to exploit resources in a variety of learning environments (e.g. the self-access centre, the electronic environment, the classroom )

 

Bullet reflection on the professional roles which develop within an ever-changing language centre environment

 

Bullet interaction with other SIGs in the Association of University Language Centres

 

Bullet collaboration with existing professional organisations and projects (in particular SMILE and PLAN)

 

Bullet the creation of an email discussion list, a website

 

Bullet the organisation of regular meetings and visits to colleagues’ language centres

 

Bullet raising interest in and awareness of the Association of University Language Centres within the broader context of languages
